AND THE WINNER IS!!!

At the District 84 Fall Conference in November 2012, the District announced the design contest for the Triple Crown Award pin. The Triple Crown Award is a Toastmasters International award, but the District did not have a representation of the award to present to those members who achieved their educational awards. The pin will be awarded to those who complete three educational goals from 1 July to 30 June each year.

Tito Vazquez
We are pleased and excited to announce the winner of the design contest is Competent Communicator Tito Vazquez!

Tito is currently the Vice President Education of Omni Toastmasters. He has been a Toastmaster since March 2012. In this short time, he has had the privilege of participating and winning 3rd place at Fall District Humorous Speech contest (speech entitled “Warning Signs”). He recently completed the requirements for his Triple Crown Educational (CC, CL, and ALB) Award. Tito has been speaking to audiences since a teenager, and throughout his career as a Pastor and Minister.

Professionally, Tito has been a software trainer and is currently the President of 4 Pillars Consulting focusing on business image and P&P Presentations which create exciting and innovative Power Points. The idea for his Triple Crown design came from the name of the award itself...3 crowns representing 3 accomplishments in the life of a Toastmaster. Tito has been happily married for over 22 years to his inspiration and wife, Sarah.

Tito will present the pins to those who win the award before May 15th at the upcoming Spring Mardi Conference to be held May 17-18 at the Florida Hotel in the Florida Mall in Orlando. Those who win their award after May 15th will receive their pins from their Area Governors.

The JC Williams Spirit Award

by Lt. Governor Education & Training, Dee Melvin, DTM

JC Williams, DTM
District 84 announces the JC (Joseph Calvin) Williams Spirit Award. The award is in honor of the life and spirit of Distinguished Toastmaster JC Williams. Each year, the winner of the award will exemplify the spirit of service to others in Toastmasters and in their communities as exemplified by JC. JC‘s life was dedicated to extraordinary service to others. He retired in 1994 after over 20 years of service to his country in the US Navy Submarine Service. He coached hundreds of children over a 25 year span in a variety of sports, not only serving as their coach but as their leader, teacher and mentor.

JC and his wife, Distinguished Toastmaster Darlene Williams, fostered and mentored 26 young adults through good times and trying times. Each of these young people serves as a testament to JC’s lifetime commitment to making the world a better place.

JC loved Toastmasters and served his clubs (and there were many) by serving in every club officer position. He never missed an opportunity to lead, mentor and coach his fellow Toastmasters. He served the District as the District Sergeant at Arms in 2009–2010. He served as Area 23 Governor in 2010-2011. Even in his last weeks, JC chose to serve his fellow Toastmasters as the announcer for the banner parade at the Fall Conference in November 2012

JC’s legacy is strong, having touched so many lives. He had the gift of laughter, a smile filled with sunshine and a heart overflowing with love, friendship and kindness and he shared these gifts generously.

On January 26, 2013, the District 84 Executive Committee voted to establish this annual award in perpetuity. For additional information, and/or to place a nomination for the award, please visit the JC Williams Spirit Award page in this website.

We are proud to honor JC with this award.
